Why this Iwi owned business is a great place to build your career...

Pouarua is proud of it’s iwi ownership and tupuna (ancestral roots) on the Hauraki plains.  Along with this pride in the past comes a passion for the future, for seeing people from all backgrounds be given opportunities to contribute to their own future and the future of the business through meaningful employment.

People who work best at Pouarua work hard, love the land, care for cows and have a strong sense of community and whanau.   Pouarua’s tirohanga matakite (vision) is for the land to be healthy and provide for today, tomorrow and future generations….now that’s something no-one should be arguing with. As part of supporting this vision the dairy farming business incorporates extensive plantings, a garden of intent which provides native plants for textiles and medicine, and is looking to diversify land use as part of their pathway to their vision.

Working here also means you become
whanau. From the proximity to the local Ngatea community, to the sports and social outings supported by Pouarua team members and also the social events for the Pouarua whanau, this business has got the balance right - you’re part of it, in it and feel it, and you’re also your own person with your own pathway, whanau and career to nourish.

Come 1 June this year Pouarua is expecting there to be some opportunities, both in traditional management and 2IC on-farm roles, and also at entry and junior levels where more flexible and family-friendly working hours are available. On offer is great accomodation (if you need it) and attractive pay and conditions that mean you’ll be well looked after when you’re at work and you’ll be able to afford to look after yourself well outside of work.

Potential managers and 2IC’s need experience in pasture-based systems and a commitment to performance without compromising land or animals. Team members need to be willing to learn, happy working outside in all weather and, ideally, have some dairy farming experience. You’ll also be able to tell us what you’re looking for in a job so that we can quickly work out if Pouarua is the right place for you.

Interested? Apply today with your CV and cover letter, we’d love to hear from you!
