Salary: Negotiable
Location: Te Pahu, New Zealand
Duration: Permanent - Full time
Start Date: 1 June

We're looking for a Farm Assistant or Herd Manager (depending on skill and experience)

Our clients are established dairy and beef farmers in the Te Pahu district, a quick 20 minute commute from Hamilton.   With a focus on simple sustainable systems, they value high performance and have developed the property over three generations of ownership into a high performing 630 cow farm producing 950 – 1000ms/ha.

This farm is living proof that a combination of easy farming systems, good plant and equipment and focus on the important things whilst always looking for improvements, pays dividends.

And before you jump to any conclusions about family run farms, we can assure you that this is a farming business where forward planning, budgeting, making a $ and looking after their people, land and animals are all part of the success equation.    With an on-farm team of three plus the owner (full time), this is a business where the team have that great balance of scope to do their work, make suggestions and improvements and also the support to grow and build their skills.

The people who thrive on this farm and with this client:

  • Love working in a herringbone (this one is a 40as two-person shed)
  • Work well in an in environment where you ‘get involved’ in everything and where ‘we’re all in it together’ really means just that!
  • Are interested in a relaxed and professional environment where everyone’s ideas are discussed, plans laid and good business ideas are implemented

So, if you’ve:

  • Got great ideas
  • Had a year or two's experience dairy farming and are ready for your next great role
  • Like the idea of a nice two-bedroom cottage close to the city AND
  • Know that turning up and ‘showing up’ are two different things (and you’d rather do the latter)

Then give us a call to talk about these opportunities.  We’re pretty sure that they won’t last long because this combination of location and business don’t come around that often!
