Southern Pastures has an understated reputation within the dairy sector for quality, social responsibility and the highest ethical standards.  In and around Rakaia there are nine farms contributing to this reputation and business run by experienced farmers and supported by a professional management and governance team.

The Technical Support Officer sits in the middle of this, making sure the Canterbury Regional Manager along with Farm Partners (Contract Milkers and Equity Partners) and suppliers are communicated with, supported and provided with data and information to support business performance and decision making.

It goes without saying that this will require excellent excel, research and report writing skills, along with the a high level of organisation so you can stay in front of the needs of your internal and external stakeholders.  Nothing shouts proficiency more than you having the information before it’s asked for!

Past people who’ve done roles similar to this for Southern Pastures successfully have come from Ag related relevant technical specialist backgrounds (things like farm systems analysis, H&S, agronomy, professional administration and co-ordination) and each has bought that passion, drive and commitment to the role, adding to and complimenting the skills of their colleagues.

So, if you love working as part of a team to make a business hum, are pro-active and self driven in your approach to work, have excellent IT and organisational skills and understand the dairy industry then take a closer look at this opportunity.

Although full time, a mix of work from home and a flexible approach to working hours means that this is an opportunity that could blend with your other life passions.
